2024-08-21: Transition from Avenir to Nunito Sans Web Font
Effective October 2024, we will be discontinuing Avenir as our primary web typeface due to a significant increase in its licensing costs. In its place, we will adopt Nunito Sans, a Google font, for all web usage. Please note that Avenir will remain our primary typeface for print and other communications.
If your websites currently use Avenir, we ask you to switch to Nunito Sans by Friday, September 20th.
You can find detailed instructions for making this transition here: Web Fonts
Note: If your site uses the UCSB Web Theme framework, you don’t need to make any changes—the framework’s CSS has already been updated to use Nunito Sans. However, if your site includes custom CSS or modules that reference Avenir, please follow the instructions on the linked page.
For reference, check out Nunito Sans in action at http://www.ucsb.edu . The difference might be subtle, as Avenir and Nunito Sans are quite similar!
If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to webtheme@brand.ucsb.edu.
Thank you for your cooperation!
