RE: 2025 UCSB Edison STEM Research Scholarships now AVAILABLE!

 

The UCSB Edison STEM Research Scholarship aids talented undergraduate students to present already conducted research at a conference or participate in research under the direction of a UCSB faculty mentor/research affiliate in one of the following fields: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Studies, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Statistics & Data Science.

 

Within the application, you will need to specify if you are applying for a scholarship to present (already conducted) research at a conference or if you are seeking support to conduct research during the academic year or summer.

The available scholarships are the following:

●     Summer Research Scholarship ($6,250)

●     Academic Year Research Scholarship ($1,250)

●     Conference Support Scholarship ($500-$2,000)

 

Requirements:

  1. Full-time UCSB student pursuing a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Studies, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Statistics & Data Science.

  1. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

  1. Be enrolled in the UCSB MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) University Program (MUP). If you are not currently enrolled, enroll today at mesa.my.site.com/s/profile-update.

  1. Participate in professional development sessions.

  1. Present your research at a research seminar (Summer/Fall options)

  1. Receive a letter of recommendation from the UCSB faculty member, post-doc, or UCSB-affiliated researcher with whom you are conducting research through a Google form provided by the program coordinator.

Scholarship application deadlines:

·         Summer Research Scholarship: Friday, May 16th, 2025, by 11:59 PM

·         Academic Year Research Scholarship: Friday, May 16th, 2025, by 11:59 PM

·         Research Conference Support Scholarship: Sunday, June 22nd, 2025, by 11:59 PM
