Advancing the University of California's mission of teaching, research, and public service requires a shared commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethical, legal, and professional behavior. To ensure a safe and ethical work environment and to comply with state and University of California mandates, all University employees are required to complete several training programs. In January 2025, we communicated that completion of the Cybersecurity Awareness training would be required by March 21, 2025, to maintain access to campus network tools and services. At that time, we additionally announced that the completion of all other training programs mandated by law and UC policy would subsequently be required to maintain access to the campus network. More recently, federal funding agencies announced that beginning October 1, they will require Research Security Training status be current prior to the submission of funding applications. In order to ensure the smooth and successful completion of these remaining mandatory compliance and training activities, a phased set of deadlines were developed after broad consultation. Anyone who has not completed required training activities by the designated completion deadlines below will lose access to key web-based UCSB tools (e.g., email, Zoom, Canvas). Faculty, staff, and student employees who are already in compliance and up-to-date in their required trainings do not need to repeat trainings until they are due for renewal.
