RE: FY 2026 Facilities Management Service Level Reductions
Ongoing staffing and budgetary challenges have led Facilities Management (FM)to adjust service levels on campus. More recent campus-wide budget reductions made as part of the Financial Stability planning process will require additional adjustments in Building Maintenance & Operations, Custodial, and Grounds areas.
Please visit Facilities Management FY26 Service Levels to see a detailed breakdown of the revised service levels for FY 2026. Within available resources, FM will do its best to operate, maintain, and renew the physical environment needed to support the University's instructional, research, and public service missions.

RE: New Retirement Counseling Services for Faculty and Staff
Dear Campus Community,
Human Resources is delighted to announce that our office is now offering Retirement Counseling Services for all faculty and staff. This new service is being funded by the Office of the Chancellor and the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and will be developed with the cooperation of the UCSB Emeriti and Retirees Associations. It reflects our commitment to supporting you at every stage of your career, including the important transition into retirement.
Retirement is a significant milestone, and planning for it can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Our counseling services are designed to provide guidance, resources, and personalized support to help you make informed decisions about your financial, professional, and personal goals as you prepare for this next chapter.
The primary goal of this new service is to provide employees with additional support, beyond what is already provided through our partners at RASC and Fidelity, to assure that you feel confident, well-informed, and fully supported throughout your journey into retirement.
If you are close to retirement and/or have any questions about retirement planning we welcome you to schedule a one-on-one in-person or zoom meeting with Lisa Romero, Retirement Counselor. As a recent retiree, Lisa has returned to UC Santa Barbara to provide initial support to help launch this new service. She has a wealth of experience and expertise in the retirement process.
Our dedicated Retirement Counselor will provide comprehensive support, including:
● Timely and relevant information about all aspects of retirement planning.
● Personalized consultations to discuss your unique needs and circumstances.
● Tailored guidance and educational resources to help you effectively plan your future.
To schedule an appointment, please submit an HR ServiceNow ticket to Employee Services/Benefits/Retirement Process Support. Lisa can also be reached directly at Lisa.Romero@hr.ucsb.edu or 805-893-5163.
We encourage faculty and staff to take advantage of this service and connect with our team to schedule a session. Whether you are beginning to explore retirement options or are closer to making that transition, we are here to support you every step of the way.
We look forward to partnering with you in planning a rewarding and fulfilling retirement.
