We understand that signing up for classes is hard and stressful. That you may not get the classes you want first or second pass. However, please be aware that there are multiple account systems at UCSB. If you sign up for classes, it does not instantly extend all your other accounts.

Common Account Expiration Questions and Answers

This may result in you getting emails about your CoE or other accounts expiring in 30 days, 2 weeks, 1 week, 1 day, etc… This is especially true if you sign up for classes 3rd pass or get off the waitlist after a quarter already begins.

DO NOT PANIC, the email may be going off old information.

If you already signed up for classes and already paid your fees, your accounts will be extended as soon as possible. It is generally possible to check your expiration date on a per account basis, such as for CoE accounts at accounts.engr.ucsb.edu

Due to policies designed for security, it is not possible to extend accounts indefinitely or “till graduation”. All accounts have expiration dates and different accounts from different departments may have different expiration dates.
