Can not log onto UCSB Connect

Problem

You are trying to log onto UCSB Connect and unable to do so.

Reason

There are a few possible reasons this could be happening...

  1. Wrong user name - Your UCSB Connect Username is <ucsbnetid username>@ucsb.edu
  2. Wrong Password - Your UCSB Connect Password is your UCSB NetID Password.
  3. You forgot your password - You can reset your password through UCSB Identity and Directory Services
  4. Multi-factor authentication is not enabled - you can either use DUO or Google 2 factor authentication https://www.connect.ucsb.edu/usage/google-apps/activating-2-step-verification

Connect Requires MFA

  • Active - UCSB SSO/Duo MFA will be enforced. example: People with active College of Engineering (CoE) accounts.
  • Separated with an Active Connect account - Google's 2-Step Verification will be enforced.  If not enabled on your account, you will be prompted to set this up. example: Graduated students in the time between graduation and connect expiration. If you want to keep receiving mail at your CoE or CS aliases post graduation, you will probably want to consider Alumni forwarding.
  • Separated with an Inactive Connect account - If you are separated from the university and your Connect account was deactivated by your department, you will get an access denied error from Google when you try to sign in. Note: Alumni forwarding will work post connect account deactivation. All other forms of forwarding will be disabled. Alumni forwarding is only set up by request.

Note

ECI does not have much direct control over the UCSB Connect User Accounts other than adding aliases to the account for the College of Engineering Domains.

If you still have a Password issue, you can try and reset your password at:

UCSB Identity and Directory Services

Generally, a password reset via Identity should update the UCSB Connect Password, however this can take up to 24 hours for the change to go into effect.

If you are still having problems connecting with UCSB Connect, you will need to contact UCSB Connect Support here:
