How can I transfer files stored on CSIL/Linux machine to my device?

There are a few ways to do this...

For Macs and Linux

Our current recommendation is to make use of Terminal and the built in command scp.

You can refer to https://www.linux.com/learn/intro-to-linux/2017/2/how-securely-transfer-files-between-servers-scp on how to use scp to transfer files in this way.

For Windows

We recommend making use of a free SCP client called WinSCP (http://winscp.net/eng/download.php)

For the most part, WinSCP is straight forward, at most you would first need to log in:

Once logged in, you can drag files from the left side of the window to the right or vice versa to copy files to or from both sides as shown here:

You can tell which one is which by looking at the bar above the directory and file listing.  It should show the actual directory path location.

Make sure to close the window and disconnect when you are done.

Note

You may also see files that are normally hidden when you view your directories on a CSIL machine, it is best to leave those alone for the time being. (IE: Don't delete them or overwrite them unless you know what you are sure what you are doing with them)

USB Flash Drive

You can connect a USB Flash Drive and copy the files to it.

Note

Please use the default format of the flash drive.

Mac formatted Flash Drives may not be readable by some of the machines.

Alternative File Transfer Programs

Note

These are recommendation for software you can use. ECI can only support some of the software with 'best effort support'.

One freeware program that is available is FileZilla (https://filezilla-project.org/) for all platforms. (Windows/Mac/Linux).

There is one shareware program called Cyberduck (https://cyberduck.io/) that is available for both Mac and Windows which you can also use for free.
