Does MATLAB support my platform/operating system?
MathWorks periodically updates platform support in response to shifts in usage, and is planning the following platform changes. MATLAB 2024a/b brings a host of changes:
Platforms Supported or Added with R2024a
- Windows 10 and 11
- OS X 13.0 (Ventura) and OSX 14.0 (Sonoma)

- OS X 11.0Â (Big Sur) was last supported on R2023a and OS X 12.0 (Monterey) while supported on R2024a will not be supported on R2024b due to end of life.
- Ubuntu: Support for all Ubuntu versions 18.04 LTS and below was dropped as of R2024a, support for newer releases such as 22.04 LTS and above will continue
Change in Policy for Linux Support
MathWorks has changed its support policy to follow Red Hat’s and SUSE’s own support approach to minor versions. Note that this change does not impact support for major versions. The effect of this change is as follows for R2024a:
- SUSE: 12 SP2 is the only minor version of 12 that remains supported with MATLAB recommending you update to 15 SP1 or newer.
- Red Hat: RHEL 7 and newer but only if you are on the latest service pack.
