When you are trying to connect to any of the CSIL or LINUX machines via SSH, you get: ssh: connect to host csil.cs.ucsb.edu port 22: Connection refused or ssh: connect to host linux.engr.ucsb.edu port 22: Connection refused
Problem
When you are trying to connect to any of the CSIL or LINUX machines via SSH, you get:
ssh: connect to host csil.cs.ucsb.edu port 22: Connection refused
or
ssh: connect to host linux.engr.ucsb.edu port 22: Connection refused
Cause
It is possible that the IP your computer is connecting from is blocked by the computer's firewall for a period of time due to numerous failed attempts to log in.
Solution
The block will release after a period of time to allow access.
Please try and connect at another time.
While you are waiting to be allowed access, please make sure your username and/or password is correct by going here:
