I created my College of Engineering Account and I can't log in.

Problem

You just created your College of Engineering Account and you can't log into the machine.

Reason

There are a few reasons you can't log in...

  • You are logging onto one of the Windows Computers (Sticker has 556eci## or 503eci## or esbtl-# on it)
  • You are logging onto one of the CSIL/CSTL/Linux machines (Sticker has CSIL-## or CSTL-## or Linux## on it)
  • You received an error on account creation

Solution

You are logging onto one of the Windows Computers

If you just created your College of Engineering Account, it can take up to 30 minutes for the Windows computers to get updated with the new information.

Please wait at least 30 minutes before trying again.


You are logging onto one of the CSIL/CSTL/Linux Machines

If you just created your College of Engineering account, it can take up to 15 minutes for the creation of the home directory for your account.

As stated on the account creation page, while the account is created, there are some things that need to be done in order to have your account fully up.

Try again after 15 minutes.

If it is still not available, please contact help@engineering.ucsb.edu and provide the error message you get when you try to log in.


You received an error on account creation

After submitting for your account creation you get an error message saying:

Inconceivable!

Please contact us at help@engineering.ucsb.edu with your username and when you tried to create your account so we can look and see what caused the problem.
